United Offers To Send Morristown Seniors On Trip To Puerto Rico

After a heartbreaking disappointment, the news just keeps getting better for Morristown High School seniors.

The students had raised $20,000 to take a class trip to Puerto Rico, but their flight out of Syracuse was cancelled.

When they drove to Newark, New Jersey to catch the connecting flight, they learned United had given away their seats.

United just informed the seniors Thursday that it will be refunding the airfare, out-of-pocket expenses for the prepaid hotel and excursions in San Juan, and also car rental for their drive to Newark.

In addition, United has offered to send the students on a full trip to San Juan later this summer.

The airline also said if one of the seniors is unable to travel with the group, it will work with the student individually.

Sarah Belile, the senior class advisor, said 7 News’ coverage of their ill-fated trip “helped this happen. We are all so elated.”
