St. Louis Park Senior Program hosts classes, travel preview

The St. Louis Park Senior Program is highlighting these activities:

• Douglas Carlson will teach “iPhone Basics”4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, and Thursday, Jan. 18, at Lenox Community Center, 6715 Minnetonka Blvd. The class includes the general operation of the phone, changing backgrounds and sounds, calling and texting, checking weather and news and taking pictures.

• Minnesota Legal Aid will offer a free talk about fraud 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Lenox Community Center. The discussion will cover common examples of scams and fraud targeted toward seniors and preventative steps.

• Nickie Welsh will teach “Digital Photos 101” 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Lenox Community Center. Participants can learn how to utilize their pictures by exploring ways to save, edit, add text, save them to a flash drive or upload them to social media.

• Laura Vosika will teach the six-week class “Memoir Writing” beginning 2-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Lenox Community Center. This class will help participants begin telling their story or their family’s story as they learn about focus, outlines and bringing a story to life.

• The St. Louis Park Senior Program, along with St. Louis Park Community Education and Landmark Tours, sponsors many extended travel opportunities. Trips planned for 2018 include Hawaii, New Orleans, the Canadian Rockies, Ireland and more. A travel preview is planned at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Lenox Community Center.
