Seniors prepare for Game day

On Feb. 2, members of the 127 South Senior Center met for their Friday get-together, those who braved the weather anyway. Games were played, along with lots of conversation. Arlene Simmons and Helen Lord called the bingo numbers and Eye Centers of Tennessee furnished the prizes.

Jan Neitzke, president, opened the meeting with Jean Wettlaufer giving the prayer and Floyd Burgess leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

Nancy Fincher, sunshine lady, gave the report on those ill and recovering and please pray for our military and first responders. Nancy really is a sunshine lady.

Fred Zoeller read the names of members with birthdays and anniversaries for Feb. Gwen Flynn was at the piano.

Guests at the meeting were Jim and Kay Blaylock, Tammy Ray, Julianne Pierce, Buddy Gooch and Arlene Brumball.

Game day will be Feb. 20 and if interested see Helen Lord. Remember to check your Kroger receipts for credit with your purchases which helps the center, bring in items for the 127 Corridor Sale and bluegrass music is every Thursday night, free to the public.

Jan announced that there are still seats available for the San Antonio trip in April. The trip to see Jeanne Robertson is May 18 and the cost is $75. June 11-16 is the trip to Amish Country in Pennsylvania and then on to Philadelphia. Many, many sights to see and things to do. Cost is $580. July 10 is to Knoxville for a riverboat cruise. Cost is $75. Aug. 14 is a day trip to Stearns, KY, to the Big Southfork Scenic Railway and the cost is $70. Sept. 16-22 is a trip to Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, VA. A seven-day trip for $785. Oct. 10 is a trip planned to Granville, TN, to see the Scarecrow Festival. There are over 300 scarecrows and many scary people walking through town. Dinner is at the Sutton General Store and the cost is $65. Nov. 13 is a day trip to Pigeon Forge for a Christmas Show at The Music Mansion Theater. Dec. 4-5 is an overnighter to Callaway Gardens for their Fantasy of Lights Festival. A trolly will travel through the forest with many light displays. Sign-up sheets are at the senior center.

Bob Jones and Tom Fincher provided the music.

After the dinner prayer by Bob Jones, everyone was served meatloaf and chicken patties. Cook in charge was Jean Wettlaufer. Side dishes were provided by the members. Thanks, everyone.

Until next week, be good to one another.
