Hinsdale Lions Club giving sand for seniors

Senior citizens living in Hinsdale who call and leave a name and street and address will receive a delivery of sand. Containers, five gallon buckets or smaller, should be placed so they are visible from the main road. Members of the Hinsdale Lions Club will be making deliveries on Jan. 6. Bellows Falls center offers senior activities

Cabin Fever Scrapbooking Day: Jan. 2 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. $10-$15 per person. Limited space. What to bring: scrapbook or refill pages, pictures, adhesives, tools, other cropping materials such as paper, cardstock and a bag lunch. Basic Tai Chi for fall prevention: Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Please contact instructor Susan Williams 802-376-5173 for more information.

Chair caning: meets Mondays at 1 p.m. If you have a chair that needs repair or would like to learn the art of chair caning, please stop by.

The Knit and Stitch group: meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 a.m., get help with finishing a project, repairing an item or take on a new project.

The BFASC Quilters: meet the on the second Wednesday of the month at 9 a.m.

Nickle Bingo: is held every Tuesday starting at 12:30 p.m., with 20 games played.

Free tax preparation: The Bellows Falls Area Senior Center in conjunction with AARP are excited to announce free tax preparation for the 2018 tax season. Please call the center to book an appointment, 802-463-3907. Appointments are available Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting on Feb. 5. No walk-ins will be available.

The center will be closed New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1. Any time the WNESU school system is closed due to weather, the center is also.

Friendly Meals, Meals on Wheels

Friendly Meals offers Garden Café dining for seniors at 312 Marlboro St. in Keene. Doors open Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is served at noon.

Dining rooms serving Monday through Friday are also at the Meadowood Assembly Hall in Troy and at the Millstream Community Center in Hinsdale. Friendly Meals are served on Wednesdays at the Keene Senior Center and monthly in Marlborough, Jaffrey, Stoddard, North Walpole, Marlow and Westmoreland. Lunch is available for a donation.

Cheshire County residents ages 60 and older may attend. Dietetic desserts are available at all meals. Donations are appreciated. Participants should make reservations two days before by 11 a.m.. Exercise program held twice a week

Age In Motion (AIM), an exercise program designed for older adults. Classes are led by trained instructors and are held for one hour, twice a week and consist of exercises to increase strength, flexibility and balance. Both men and women from any area town are invited to participate, and new members are welcome to join at any time. A $2 donation per class is requested.

Hinsdale (Millstream Community Center): Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Marlborough (Community House): Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 to 10 a.m.

Winchester (ELMM Center): Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to noon.

Physician approval is needed to join. Please call Jo-Anne at Home Healthcare, Hospice Community Services (HCS) at 352-2253, extension 118, for a registration packet. Age In Motion is a program of HCS, a Monadnock United Way agency.

Friday lunches held in Peterborough

The Peterborough senior lunch at the Peterborough Community Center offers games and food every Friday. Coffee and chat will begin at 10:15 a.m., cribbage and Bananagrams will follow, with a home-cooked lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $7.

Attendees should call Gloria at 924-9489 by noon on the preceding Wednesday to make reservations.

Monthly breakfast on tap in Troy

The Troy Senior Breakfast is held at the Samuel E. Paul Community Center on South Street on the first Saturday of every month, 7 to 10 a.m. Breakfast buffet is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 10 and under.

Bellows Falls center offers senior meals

The Bellows Falls Area Senior Center at 18 Tuttle St., Bellows Falls, serves lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The meal is served until sold out and is open to area seniors.

Suggested donation is $3.50 for seniors over the age of 60, which includes a beverage. Information: 463-3907.

A senior cribbage league is held at Stone Arch Village in Keene on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Stone Arch Village is at 831 Court St.

Zumba Gold set for winter session

A new session of the Zumba Gold exercise program will be held Jan. 2 to 25 (snow date Jan. 30) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Keene Recreation Center, 312 Washington St.

This aerobic dance exercise program led by licensed instructor Pam Durkin is ideal for older adults and beginners.

Cost is $24 for the four-week session.
