Health Care presentation

OLD CHATHAM —“Health Care: Where do we go from here” presented by Dr. Michael Kaplan and Dr. Charles Wohl Jan. 6 at Old Chatham Quaker Meetinghouse, 539 County Route 13, Old Chatham. Potluck at 6 p.m.; talk at 7 p.m. Both Berkshire physicians have been advocates of a single-payer healthcare system for the United States, and are members of Physicians for a National Health Program, the leading national organization of healthcare professionals in the single-payer movement. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served and a moderated discussion will follow. For information, call 518-766-2992.

Southern Tier Seniors

CLERMONT — Southern Tier Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Clermont Firehouse on Route 9G, Clermont. A Christmas party luncheon will be held. The club will provide turkey and members are ask to bring a covered dish for the table, either a dessert or vegetable for all to share. There will be an $8 donation for guests attending. There will be carols and a gift exchange.

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at the firehouse. All seniors are welcome to join. For information, contact Jim 845-756-2960. In case of snow with school closings, the meeting will take place the next day.

Greenport Senior Citizens

GREENPORT — The Greenport Senior Citizens met Nov. 7. Ashley Gallagher from CDPHP gave information for members who need insurance or who needed to make changes.

Doris Moore announces the following trips. Nov. 28 to Saratoga Casino and Dec. 14 to Washington Park in Albany for the Christmas lights. This trip includes dinner at the Golden Corral. The bus leaves at 1 p.m. Members of Greenport and Hudson senior groups can call Doris at 518-828-7410 for reservations. Space is limited.

Dec. 5 through 8 to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. Feb. 17, to Daytona, Florida, either 16 day or 21 day trip. Call Doris for information.

The Office of the Aging has a free bus to see Winter Walk between 2 and 4 p.m. Call the office for information.

The seniors’ Christmas Party will be at noon Dec. 7 at Kozel’s. Members, $11; guests, $22. For information, call Marion Patzwhal at 518-828-5863 by Dec. 1 for reservations.

The following officers will be installed at the dinner. Betty Pultcher, president; Guy Spath, vice president; Marion Patzwhal, secretary; Marion Anuska, treasurer.

Columbia County Golden Agers

HUDSON — The Columbia County Golden Agers met Nov. 14 at the Crosswinds in Hudson. There was a covered dish luncheon prepared by members.

Election of officers was held. Sandy Burfiend, president; Elizabeth Lynk, vice president; Helen Wright, treasurer; Charlene Yorck, secretary; Doris Moore, travel; Joan Niessingh, chaplain; Jean March, sunshine; Karen Kellerhouse, assistant treasurer.

Condolences were sent to the family of Charlotte Christmas.

The annual Christmas party will be held at noon Dec. 13 at Kozel’s. Deadline to make reservations is Dec. 4. For information and to make a reservation, call 518-822-9170. Paul Slusar will perform. Members will be doing table favors. Frank Gibson and his daughter-in-law, Susan Gibson will be guests.

Livingston Seniors

LIVINGSTON — The Livingston senior citizens holiday luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 9 at the Linlithgo Reformed Church. Reservations may be made prior to Dec. 1. Leave a message at 518-851-9441 ext. 311.

HCSD “Courtesy Card”

HUDSON — The Hudson City School District Courtesy Card entitles senior citizens free admission to activities sponsored by the District such as athletic events, on-stage productions and adult swimming in the High School pool. Senior citizens must be age 62 or older and must be residents of the Hudson City School District to be eligible for the card.

To obtain a card, contact Dawn McDonald in the District Office at Hudson Senior High School, 215 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson. Proof of age and district residence is required (a driver’s license will suffice).

Hudson Seniors

HUDSON — The Hudson Seniors meet at the Hudson Area Library, 51 North Fifth St., Hudson. The following is the schedule for November.

Monday: 10-11 a.m. exercise; 10 a.m.-noon watercolor workshop with Bill Carbone, donations accepted with supplies; 10:30 a.m. cards and pokeno; noon lunch.

Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. cards and pokeno; 10:45 a.m.-noon yoga; noon lunch.

Wednesday: 10-11 a.m. exercise; 10:30 a.m. cards and pokeno; noon lunch; 2-4 p.m. still life into life with Dan Rupe, $10 fee includes supplies.

Thursday: 10:30 a.m. cards and pokeno; 10:45 a.m.-noon yoga; noon lunch.

Friday: 10:30 a.m. cards and pokeno; 10-11 a.m. aerobics; noon lunch.

Bingo will be played at 10 a.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month.

An ice cream social with hostess Candy will be served after lunch once a month. Call for details.
