Veteran’s Housing Services at Senior Center Feb. 15

At-risk and homeless veterans in the Cape Ann area are invited to attend an outreach program to help eligible veterans find housing. Join us on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. for this special program.

Tax Preparation Assistance starts at Senior Center

Low- to middle-income residents can sign up for tax preparation assistance at the senior center reception desk, 978-281-9765. SS Card, Photo ID, Last Year’s return and supporting documentation needed. Those having income from rental property cannot use this service.

NEW Parkinson’s Support Fourth Thursday Monthly

A Parkinson’s Support group will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month at noon at the Rose Baker Senior Center, starting Feb. 22. For more information, call 978-281-5456. Participants are welcome to sign up and attend our free lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Chess Players Meet at Senior Center Feb. 21

Hearing support Group

Beauport Hearing Care is organizing a discussion group for those dealing with hearing loss, meeting at the senior center on Feb. 20 from 11:15 a.m. to noon.

Valentine Luncheon

Seniors can attend a Valentine Luncheon held on Feb. 15 at the senior center. Meal begins 11 a.m. Sign up in the dining room, or call 978-281-9765.

Bereavement Group – Wednesday, 1:30-3 p.m.

A weekly bereavement support group meets at the senior center, call 978-281-9765 to attend. Open to all adults who have experienced a loss of close friend or loved one.

NIA Exercise Class – New

New program open to all seniors — participate in a free hour-long exercise program combining disciplines from yoga, tae kwon do, jazz, tai chi and modern dance. Routines put to music, fun cardiovascular workout. Mondays at 1 p.m. at the senior center.

Tech Classes and Individual Instruction

Call the senior center at 978-281-9765 if you need computer classes, help with your IPad, Kindle, PC, IPhone, or other computing devices. Social Media instruction also available in classes and individual instruction.

Genealogy for Beginners-Advanced

Meet weekly to pursue genealogy history. An instructor offers software and training three days a week, attend once weekly depending on your level of computer ability. Sign up at the Rose Baker Senior Center or call 978-281-9765.

Immigration Consultations Wednesdays at Senior Center

Recognizing the need for access to legal representation without cost, in cooperation with Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken, confidential consultation for all ages is offered by Immigration Attorney Carolyn Fuchs on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. at the Rose Baker Senior Center — by appointment. Wednesday Mall Bus

For a small fee, seniors can have round-trip service to the malls and other shops on Wednesdays, leaving Gloucester senior center at 9:45 a.m., and departing shopping area at 1 p.m. Check the CATA schedule for appropriate destinations each Wednesday.

Notary Services Available

Notary Services for seniors are available at the Rose Baker Senior Center, by appointment only. Please call the Gloucester Council on Aging at 978-281-9765, to schedule an appointment without charge with the certified Notary Public.

Motor Vehicle Registry Services at Senior Center

Trained senior center staff can renew license/registrations, pay fines, locate routine documents and forms and perform most RMV transactions. Please bring your valid driver information; debit/credit or checking account may be used to pay fees.

VNA Nurse Visit

The VNA Care Network Nurse provides services at the Rose Baker Senior Center each Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Bridge and Whist at Senior Center

New players welcome. Playing starts 1 p.m. on Thursdays at the senior center.

Free Jazz Band Concerts on Mondays at Senior Center

The senior center offers dancing and socialization on Mondays. The Ole Salty Jazz Band is performing two-hour sets on Mondays starting at 1 p.m.

Free Morning Bingo at Senior Center

Local health care and nursing organizations provide free morning bingo games twice monthly at the senior center. Games will begin at 10 a.m. on Feb. 21.

Supportive Day Care

The Council on Aging offers the Supportive Day Care Program Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., each week for frail, home-bound seniors, offering stimulating activities, companionship and complete lunch and respite for caregivers. Please call Christie Parker at 978-281-9765.

Cribbage Tournament

A cribbage tournament continues at the Rose Baker Senior Center. Join the group playing starts at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, new players welcome.

Parkinson’s Exercise Program

This program is sponsored by the Addison Gilbert Hospital in partnership with the Cape Ann YMCA and the Gloucester COA.

Judith Bergeron of Beauport Hearing Care will offer a free hearing aid cleaning and information at the Rose Baker Senior Center, 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Feb. 20. A Hearing Loss Support group will also meet this day at 11 a.m.
