ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local non-profit is offering free access to fitness classes for the 24th Annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day.

The Muskingum Recreation Center is offering free access to the exercise and fitness floor, senior group exercise classes, and health screenings for adults 60 years of age and older. Event and Program Manager Becky Weir said that this years event is called ‘With Movement… There’s Improvement.’

“So always of course we like to get everybody moving, active and stay busy,” Weir said. “I would say they are in much better shape than people [who] are even younger than they are. They are a tribute to watch.”

The Senior Health and Fitness Day is taking place on May 31, 2017 with water and land classes held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:25 P.M. with a special speaker featured from 11:35 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.

“We’re going to have all kinds of area businesses that accommodate seniors and we’re really looking forward to that,” Weir said. “Then from [Genesis HealthCare System] we’ll have Meghan Green, who is an exercise physiologist speaking about getting the right fit and movement.”
