Christmas comes early at Aurora long-term care facility

Alice Owens of Aurora has seen decades’ worth of Christmas celebrations, but when it comes to enjoying the magic of the season, it never gets old.

“As far as the holiday and celebrating the arrival of Santa, it’s never too late. I’m excited about it,” Owens said.

Santa and his elves made an early Christmas visit Monday at the Symphony of Orchard Valley long-term care facility in Aurora by offering songs, a Christmas word game, a holiday craft activity and a small gift for those in attendance.

The Christmas party was presented by a group of biology and heath science students from Aurora University that are also members of Mu Sigma Pi, a health professions club led by biology professor John Lloyd, who elected to don Santa’s red suit himself.
