Belmont Seniors, Save Yourself A Trip To The MBTA Office

BELMONT, MA – Sen. Will Brownsberger will sponsor a Senior CharlieCard Day on Monday, June 26 in Belmont to save seniors a trip to the MBTA offices in Boston. Seniors 65 and older may apply for a Senior CharlieCard at the event.

Staff from Sen. Brownsberger’s office will be on hand to take photos and process applications. Seniors must bring a valid, state-issued photo ID that includes date of birth. No advanced sign up is required. Senior CharlieCards will be sent by mail and may take six to eight weeks to process.

Senior CharlieCards may be used to receive reduced fares on all MBTA transportation services, in addition to discounted monthly passes for unlimited local bus and subway travel. More information about Senior CharlieCards may be found on the MBTA’s website.

If you have a Senior CharlieCard that is about to expire and you need to renew it, you may do so for free over the phone at (617) 222-3200. You do not need to come to Monday’s event. Your renewed card will be sent by mail. If your Senior CharlieCard has already expired or you have lost it, then you may reapply in person at this event or call the MBTA office.
