2017 Walk To End Alzheimer’s Official Seeking Support From Santa Clarita Businesses

The 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s is coming up on Oct. 7 at Bridgeport Park in Valencia, and Rick Ferrante of Home Care Services Santa Clarita is calling on local businesses to show their support for the cause in a variety of ways.

Whether it’s a small donation, a sponsorship, a vendor booth or simply a team signing up to participate in the walk, Ferrante noted that Santa Clarita businesses have a chance to make a difference while also giving customers a reason to choose them.

“People want to do business with those that support this community,” Ferrante said. “A good way to do that … is to support those things that help people here.”

Ferrante noted that it’s hard to come across someone who hasn’t been affected by Alzheimer’s disease in some way, and that the walk both supports those individuals and helps efforts to find a cure.

“This walk, what it’s doing is two things — it’s supporting those people that are affected with services and resources, as well as funding research to find a cure,” Ferrante said.

Rather than just put up a sign and hope customers choose you over your competitors, Ferrante encourages businesses to instead demonstrate that they are a part of the Santa Clarita community by getting involved.

“You give me a call today and we’re going to, between now and the 7th, promote the fact that your business is supporting this cause and your business is one that people in this community need to support as well,” Ferrante said, adding that the hundreds of walk participants are potential customers.

He continued, “If you want to be engaged in this community and show your support, give me a call and I will find a way that could be very economical — I’ll find a way that can be whatever it is that fits into your budget.”

For those businesses on the fence about getting involved, Ferrante recalled a recent support group meeting at Home Care Services Santa Clarita.

“You watch people walk in, it’s tough — it’s tough for a lot of people,” he said. “So if you’re a business that wants to help those people and want to show and demonstrate that and want us to be able to say, ‘Yeah, you’re a partner. You’re with us — you’re with us to help those people and find a cure for this horrible disease,’ — this is the only way we’re going to do it.”
